New Orleans-based musician Aubrey Jane is obsessed with music. The words she puts together are a heartbeat, a driving force of despairing creativity. Her sophomore album, Starshiner, resides at a collision of influences, from bubble grunge to art pop to alt country to folk. The record is a natural progression in Jane's evolution as a songwriter and creator, and, simultaneously is leaps and bounds beyond her previous work. For Jane, creating is living, music is flesh and blood.
Aubrey Jane likes to eat frozen peas out of the bag late at night in the kitchen with the light turned off, illuminated only by the open freezer door. When she sits in chairs she likes to put her feet up on the edge like a gargoyle. Her favorite birds are crows and sparrows and ducks.
